Highlights

Journey into the remote Alaskan wilderness on this incredible flightseeing tour of Mt McKinley from Talkeetna. Soar high above the granite peaks, glaciers and cascading icefalls of Denali National Park, and admire geological formations such as the Great Gorge of Ruth Glacier, Kahiltna Glacier and the peaks of Mt Hunter and Mt Foraker as you traverse the breathtaking Alaska Range. Choose from three flight itineraries: South Face, Base Camp or the Grand Denali tour, which combines the two. For the ultimate flightseeing experience, upgrade to include a glacier landing!

After pickup from your Talkeetna hotel, you'll be taken to your plane for an incredible flightseeing tour of Mt McKinley. Soaring high above Delani National Park and the breathtaking Alaska Range, admire views of majestic granite peaks, cascading icefalls, canyons and glaciers. Throughout your flight, enjoy informative commentary from your expert pilot about the surrounding wildlife and geological interests.

Choose from three flight itineraries:

South Face

Fly over the lush green wetlands of the northern Boreal forest before entering the Ice Age world of Mt McKinley and the Alaska Range. You'll be awed by the Great Gorge of Ruth Glacier, filled with a 4,000-foot thick (1,220-meter) river of ice. The depth of this glacier combined with the height of the towering cliffs create an abyss that is deeper than the Grand Canyon! In fact, this is one of the deepest gorges in the world. Other highlights include the Don Sheldon amphitheater and intense blue melt-water pools.

Base Camp

A pilot favorite, this flight leads right into the heart of the Alaska Range, with all the same features as the South Face tour as well as the East and West faces of Mt McKinley. Highlights include Denali's massive sister peaks -- Mt Hunter Mt Foraker -- and the major glaciers that blanket the south side of the Alaska Range: Ruth Glacier, Tokositna Glacier, Eldridge Glacier, Kanakula Glacier, Buckskin Glacier, Coffee Glacier and Kahiltna Glacier, the longest in Denali National Park!

You'll also fly over Base Camp, where daring climbers begin their epic 3-week journey of Mt McKinley.

Grand Denali

Can't decide which flight to choose? Enjoy them both! The Grand Denali tour covers the same routes as both the South Face and Base Camp flights, giving you an unbeatable experience of Denali National Park.

Complete a whole circle around Mt McKinley's ridges and faces, and cross over the divide of the Alaska Range, revealing the arctic alpine tundra of the north side of Denali Park's remote interior. You'll also see Wickersham Wall, one of world's greatest continual vertical reliefs.

Upgrade to experience a glacier landing! Land on a glacier at the base of Mt McKinley and experience the excitement of standing among Denali's great peaks, whose immense scale will astound you. You'll be treated to unparalleled photo opportunities here.

This tour is seasonal and only operates from May through September.

Highlights

Hop in the driver's seat and journey through Denali National Park by Jeep on this 3.5-hour off-road adventure! As you follow your guide along the picturesque Stampede Trail, which inspired the film 'Into the Wild,' enjoy an exhilarating ride that offers views of Mt McKinley and wildlife including moose, foxes, caribous and even bears.

Your adventure begins near the entrance of Denali National Park, where you'll meet your guide and receive your orientation. Then, hop in the driver's seat of your 4WD Jeep Wrangler, which seats up to four people, and embark on an exhilarating ride through beautiful Denali National Park!

Your destination is Stampede Road. Once called Stampede Trail and not shown on many Alaska maps, this road was a mining trail blazed in the 1930s. This is the same road that the character from the film Into The Wild travels on.

The first few miles of the road are paved, but beyond this point, your guide will lead the pack of Jeeps along some unpaved paths, giving you with plenty of bumps and dips to maneuver. There will be ample opportunity to switch drivers so everyone can enjoy the thrill of maneuvering along this road through the wilderness.

Through your two-way radio, your guide will explain the area's rich history, point out interesting sights and provide tips on the road conditions ahead. You and your fellow travelers can ask your guide any questions you may have along the way.

Don't forget your camera! On a clear day, you may be able to see Mt McKinley, and be sure to keep your eyes peeled for wildlife, as this area is rife with moose, foxes, caribou and even bears.

Enjoy a snack before winding your way back to where you started, with lots of stories and photos of your Alaskan wilderness adventure to share with friends!
