How did the Jacksonville Jazz Festival start?
In 1979Jake Godbold became Jacksonville’s mayor. He and his assistant Mike Tolbert organized the Jazz festival with the aim that it would bring pleasure to the struggling fishing community of Mayport. It started as a one-day free event where local artists would perform and now it has become a 3 days free event.
