2. Boating and Kayaking at Moss Park Camping Ground

At Moss park you have some options for getting out on the water. There is a dock and two boat ramps near the front gate. The closest ramp to Lake Mary Jane was getting some repairs done when we visited. If you want to use the other ramp just turn right when you enter the park.

It is on the canal and is closer to Lake Hart. Both ramps are handy for launching canoes and kayaks. Just keep in mind that the lakes here are pretty big so it can get windy.

If you are paddling around in a canoe or kayak it is a good idea to stay near the shorelines and the marshy areas near the canal. This is where you are likely to spot some alligators so be on the lookout.

3. Hiking Trails at Moss Park

Moss Park has hiking trails marked with orange blazes. One of the trails is part of the Florida trail which goes through the park and connects to the Swamp Trail. The Florida Trail section is about 1.7 miles long and leads from the Swamp Trail gate to Split Oak Forest.

The Swamp Trail itself is about 1.4 miles long and also has orange blazes. It takes you through marshy areas between the two lakes but it can sometimes flood.

If you start at the front gate of Moss park you can walk about 0.2 miles up the road to a walk through. From there you will find more orange blazed hiking trails in the nearby Crosby Island Marsh Preserve.

4. Biking at Moss Park

You can not ride bicycles through the gate to the Swamp Trail. But there are no signs saying you can not bike on the orange blazed trails in the park.

All roads at Moss Park whether paved or not allow you to ride your bike. If you are camping then having a bike can be handy for exploring different areas of the park.
